REACT is the brand new, student-led science magazine from Newcastle University, with the first issue due to be published on 28 November 2012.

The aim is to give undergraduate and postgraduate students the opportunity to share their passion for science with a wide audience and to write about science in an engaging and reader-friendly way.Last summer, with the news that the British Science Festival would be coming to Newcastle in September 2013, the University Engagement team put out a call to bring together these like minded people – and that’s how REACT began.After calls to arms to find all manner of helping hands, the team is now in the process of putting together the first physical issue of the magazine, which will set the precedent. Every issue will be predominantly composed of pieces reflecting research and events at Newcastle University.The REACT team is a welcoming and fluid entity. There are lots of on-going opportunities for people to get involved, not only in article writing but in the design and production of the magazine and website; we encourage students across all disciplines in the university to get in touch.

It is hoped that REACT will be a platform for promoting learning, debate, and discussion on contemporary scientific issues as well as being beautiful, interesting, and a joy to read!
